A Shake Up In The Publishing World

There has been a shakeup in the publishing world. Recently, it was announced that Tate Publishing & Enterprises, LLC is going out of business. It is well known that they have had a large client base. I am worried tonight. Why? All day long, I’ve had all of those clients in the back of my mind.

I’ve been thinking, trying to wrap my head around the concept of a publishing house going out of business. If I was in the same situation, what would I do? Where would I turn? I’m at a loss for an answer and I feel so blessed to be with Whosoever Press.

I want to reach out to any author who is caught up in a situation. Be it with Tate or whomever. If you are in a similar situation and you are looking for a new publisher, let me help you. I’ve been published by Whosoever Press for 4 years now and I can honestly say that they have not only published my book, they have treated me respect from the word go. They are always available to answer questions I have. They are Christian people who operate with true Christian values and morals.

Major Changes In My Writing Schedule!

I’ve come to a decision to change my writing schedule. My sequel to Forever and Always will have to wait. I am putting it on hold for an excellent reason.

I feel it is more important to get my Meniere’s book completed. Meniere’s Disease is such a horrible disease “Invisible Illness” and no one is immune. This decision has not been made in haste or because of any profit I may make from the sale of the book. Money is not the reason. People need this book and it is my ministry to bring it to them.

I will make an announcement as soon as the publication of my Meniere’s book is complete. You will be able to buy it directly from me, through my website, http://www.christysmith.net/store.html and I will ship it to you. I’ve also decided that anyone that has Ménière’s that buys a book from me directly will have the opportunity to have a Skype session with me, a one-on-one without leaving the comfort of their home. Shipping directly to a fellow Meniereian will help out all of us with Ménière’s, and I will still get to meet my fans!

The sequel of Forever and Always will be completed and published after the Meniere’s book is released. Thank you for your continued support, everyone. Blessings!

A Good Life

Everyone has their idea of what a good life is; some feel it is in the job they have, the amount of money, designer clothes they’ve accumulated. Some want position and power.

In the 40’s kids played football in the street. If they didn’t have a real football they would play “kick the can.” The gutter, if it wasn’t raining, was a great place to play marbles.Sometimes they made their own toys, with the parents’ help, like, say, a bow and arrow made from a sturdy smaller tree limb. It might take a bit, but they would bend it enough to make a bow; Dad might help out getting the tension and then they were off! Running, playing, shooting every target in sight! They might make a slingshot. And kids were happy with what they had! A new home in 1940 cost just under $4,000, the average income was about $1,725.00 and gas cost 11 cents a gallon.

Let’s look at the 60’s. By then, a new house cost $12,700. The average income had risen to $5315.00, and gas cost 25 cents a gallon. Soda (or bottle of pop) cost ten cents, same as a newspaper! A postage stamp cost 4 cents. The Beatles came to America; watermelon cost 2.5 cents a pound. Kids still played football in the street; the only difference was they usually had a real football. Marbles were still in; my brother had some. He was very protective of his Shooters, Aggies, Cat’s eyes, all of them! If I remember right he played Keepsies.

It’s all in how you look at things. Possessions are cast to the side as we age for something new. Now in 2016, our “toys” are bigger and more expensive, but in reality, we get the same enjoyment from them. We all have a good life whether we recognize it or not. I don’t have a lot of money or possessions, and certainly not power the way it’s defined today.  What makes my life so good? God, the people in my life and my relationships with each of them makes me happy. I can write books, which has always been my dream. I’m fulfilled. I hope you are too.
